MAX Technologies (MAXT) provides easy-to-use hardware and software for Data Bus applications on all form factors including VME, PCI, VXI, PXI and cPCI.  Their instruments can accommodate several different protocols on one carrier card.  For example, you can have 4 dual MIL-STD-1553, 32 ARINC 429 and 16 DIO on a single card.  Their software is developed so that a user can create one protocol for an application, like ARINC 429, then use it as a template for other protocols, like MIL-STD 1553.
